FAQs
As dermatology is a complex field of work, we are asked many questions. Most people want to know if we can treat their condition and how much it costs, while other clients want to know if cosmetic surgery will hurt and what it will look like afterwards.
These are important questions that can only be answered on an individual basis, but to help you understand a bit more about what we do, we have provided the answers to our most commonly asked questions here.
For everything else, please give us a call to discuss your needs.
What conditions does Bethlehem Skin Clinic diagnose and treat?
The staff at Bethlehem Skin Clinic are trained in all aspects of skin, hair and nail conditions, including the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. We offer a comprehensive range of medical, surgical and cosmetic treatments for our patients. We also have affiliations with plastic surgeons and MOHs surgeons should this be required. Dr Stanway is a doctor with specialist training in general medicine and dermatology, and more than 20 years’ postgraduate experience in the treatment of skin disease.

Who will treat me at Bethlehem Skin Clinic?
You will be treated by a specialist dermatologist or specialist dermatology nurse. Our team don’t just have an interest in skin disease – they are fully trained in this field. For a dermatologist this means a minimum of 14 years medical training with many years of post-training experience specifically in skin disease.
Will I be able to have surgery at Bethlehem Skin Clinic?
Yes. Our clinic has purpose-built operating theatres. These have engineer-designed airflow systems to ensure the strictest air hygiene can be maintained. State-of-the-art surgical instruments and sutures are used to ensure the best cosmetic results for all procedures. All post-operative care is provided at Bethlehem Skin Clinic to ensure the best outcome from your surgery. Our clinic rooms have been specifically designed for our dermatology consultations to make your experience seamless and stress-free.
How much will my treatment cost?
The cost of medical appointments varies depending on the type of appointment needed. These range from $340 to $415per appointment. If procedures are carried out (such as biopsies), then the cost of the biopsies is extra.
Will surgery be painful?
As our clients can testify, surgery conducted at Bethlehem Skin Clinic is very well tolerated. It is quite normal to be anxious before a procedure, but generally our clients leave less anxious than when they arrived. We make every effort to make your surgery experience as easy as possible.
What should I wear to an appointment at Bethlehem Skin Clinic?
You should be prepared to remove any makeup and jewellery if you are having a first consultation. You will need to be prepared to remove clothing to allow for an adequate skin examination.

“The Bethlehem Skin Clinic provides amazing service. I attend to get my skin checked regularly and they picked up an early melanoma - I am so grateful. I thoroughly recommend them to other people.”
Janet Peters
“My skin has had to be checked for the last 15 years. My former dermatologist has retired and I've just started using Dr Amy Stanway. I'm very pleased to have her as my new dermatologist, she's efficient, thorough and very kind. The small lesion removals have been perfect and I've healed quickly. Her Nurse has taken a couple of biopsies and she too is kind and very competent. I really like the new premises, there is great parking, good directions and the facility is beautiful.”
Mike Cogswell
“I can’t say how grateful I am for the amazing results I’ve had. I now feel confident to go out in public (even be around friends) without feeling ashamed of my skin like I did before. I’ve really appreciated how genuine and thorough Amy has been with me despite her busy schedule, and that she took the time to listen to me and investigate my concerns.”
Thanks, Brie
“A huge thank you for the friendly and professional way you have treated me. Although it wasn't a common skin issue, Dr Stanway was spot on with her diagnosis which meant I had near instant relief. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy your beautiful new rooms! ”
